In this part of the book Adam leaves the camp. He then sees all the stuff that is going on. He then just keeps walking. He doesn't want to go back and he takes the horses and starts on his way. He then sees a ditch and thinks he can make it but then a guy attacks him. He then kicks him in the face. But he recognizes him and they are looking for jed and he tells him that he is back there and then they go and find him.

i'm happy for adam because he left. This is good for him. He can make it on his own and he needs to prove that to himself. He needs to make new friends and make his own money. this will be good for him. I also feel bad because he doesn't know where to go and which way to go. So he could get lost and die.

I like this book and this author. He is very adventurous. I like these kinds of books. He also has a little bit of mysteries because there is a dead guy in the cabin and he doesn't say who it is. Adam leaves because he didn't want to get blamed for killing the guy in the cabin. I would have left too.

If you were adam would you have stayed in the camp and gotten blamed for the murder and know that you would live or would you leave and not know what is going to happen to you? why or why not?

In this section of my book Adam and Moses go to a field hospital. they see this black guy bleeding out on the table. Then the lieutenant is saying that the black guy shouldn't have saved him and he didn't ask for him too. then after that Adam and mose go back to their camp. Then moses tells adam how he wanted to fight but they wouldn't let him. then adam gets mad and tells him to shut up and then in the morning he finds a dead guy on the floor but he hasn't said who it is.

i liked this section because it had some action. You also learn a lot about moses. Some of it is good and some of it is bad. I feel bad for him because he didn't get to fight and he really wanted to. Then he got whipped in the back and has welts. I feel bad for him about this too. He has had a rough life and it wasn't good at all.

I also didn't like this section they are calling the black people names. Also adam gets made at moses and they are buddies. I think that moses is missing when adam wakes up in the morning so im worried about him. It wouldn't be good if somebody got a hold of moses and they beat him. I think he could hold his own but i don't know. He wouldn't stand up to a white person because they could kill them.

If you were Moses would you try to run away then stand up to a white person during the civil war days why or why not?

In this part of the book adam is staying at a camp with moses. He is running a place where he gets paid. HE then has to take the money to Jed so he can count it and see if he made profits. Then after this happens jed has to count the money. Adam has to stay here so he can get yelled at if he didnt' make money. After this happens adam and moses go and see a show and it is very bad they have the black people and they are shoving thier heads under flower and pretty much torturing them. Adam didnt' like this very much.

I would feel bad for the blacks too just like adam. I don't like watching other people getting tortured. I wouldn't be able to handle this i would have flipped out. Adam did this but moses stopped him and adam punched him in the face. I might have done the same thing. He was trying to get away from him and it was a reflex. If i was moses i probably would have stopped him because the seargent would have killed him. I would have stopped him also.

I like this book because it has action. They are always doing something and they are funny too. They are always moving. Moses is funny because he always is making fun of Adam. He calls him slew though because of his foot. My friends and i always pick on eachother so Adam and moses are like me and my friends.

If you were moses would you have stopped adam from breaking up the show with the black people? why or why not?

in this part of the book adam goes on his way from the farmhouse with jed and moses. They come to a town that says baltimore. They go to a cemetery and see these group of guys. One of the guys doesn't have an arm. He doesn't have it because it got blown off in the war. They then see all sorts of dead bodies and then the soldier tells his story. They put something over their faces so they don't rot as fast because of the elements.

I'm happy that they do this for the soldiers because the face is the most important part of the body. How they cover it up so they don't get humiliated. They also put them in their own graves on the battle field. So that is nice and the family can go and look at the graves to mourn. It is also an act of courtesy by the other soldiers to do this for them. i would be honored if i died and the soldiers did this for me.

i feel bad for the soldier that doesn't have an arm. It would suck if i got my arm blown off. You cant' do all the things all other people can do. I would also feel bad for myself because it mite have been my fault. Like just doing something stupid. That would suck a lot and i wouldn't be happy with my self.

For this part of my book adam is sitting on the street after he gets off the boat. He looks around and he sees his first dead person besides his father. This person is hung on the lamp post. His toes and fingers are cut off and he is just hanging on the lamp post and he is a negro. He is just in shock when he sees it. Then all of a sudden he is caught in a mob and forced into a house. He is shoved downstairs and then he sees some black people down there and then they flood the house and a black person saves him.

I am like in shock over this. I mean all of this violence during the civil war. I mean i knew that there was violence but not that much violence where they cut off peoples toes and fingers. Also i didn't know that people ran into the blacks houses and killed every single one of them. If i was adam i would have freaked out in that basement. I would have been just scared out of my mind and probably would have peed myself.

I am also scared for adam. I mean if i was there i would be scared out of my mind. Coming over from germany to fight and not knowing anybody over here and then seeing people get killed. He does seem scared at first but then he starts thinking and isn't very scared anymore. I still would be and i would want to go home as soon as possible. Seeing this and then having to go out and fight i wouldn't do it.

If you were adam what would you have done in the basement when it was getting flooded and why?
